A brief description of some of the more significant diseases that troubled Aborigines and settlers. Yaws and Trachoma were prevalent prior to settlement. Leprosy, Venereal Diseases and Respiratory Infections were introduced by the settlers and caused significant impacts on Aboriginal people.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community.
