This is the 3rd reprint of this book as the first publication sold out at its launch. The book provides a wonderful insight into the early days of surveying in remote and sometimes dangerous areas. These were the days before airconditioning, car refrigerators and satellite phones. Surveyors would have to camp in the bush for weeks and needed to be very resourceful when faced with mechanical problems, wild animals or accidents. Earl tells it like it was - with no fluff – that is what makes this book so interesting and very readable.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
