CARMENT, David 2005, Revised edition 2019
The book covers the history of Darwin when it was administered by South Australia until 1911,
the Commonwealth Government until self-government in 1978, to the present.
Two chapters are devoted to WW2 which had a huge impact on Darwin. The book contains
many photographs and is designed for the tourist industry.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
